The architect was selected to provide architectural and engineering services to expand and renovate the ticket lobbies on Landside Terminal A/B at the Orlando International Airport. It is part of a $94 million multiyear, multi-project effort to modernize the ticket lobbies to accommodate changing technology. The programs address multiple facility issues including capacity enhancements and asset preservation at the Landside Terminal.
The ticket lobbies are being expanded and updated with self-assist check-in kiosks that will increase throughput capacity and efficient passenger processing. This involves moving the exterior walls out towards the departures curb and replacing the check-in desks with modular units.
Included in the design is a first of its kind 1,500 SF digital display, one of the largest in the world, offering opportunities to entertain, engage and provide a range of information such as airline branding, flight information and security wait times. New digital signage is also being incorporated to improve navigation throughout the terminal.
